Ownership of Viksit Bharat is yours too: PM Modi

New Delhi | Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the critical role of India’s youth in realizing the country’s vision of becoming a developed nation, stating that this dream is achievable through the strength and potential of the youth. Addressing the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025, PM Modi expressed his confidence that India’s young population will play a pivotal role in the country’s growth over the next 25 years.

The Prime Minister acknowledged that while data analysts might consider such a goal impossible, he believes it is a significant, yet attainable target. “I have faith that India’s Yuva Shakti will transform India into a developed nation… While some might think it is impossible based on data, I see it as a monumental goal, but not an impossible one,” PM Modi said.

In his opening remarks, he reflected on Swami Vivekananda’s vision for the youth. “Today, the nation remembers and honors Swami Vivekananda. He had immense faith in the youth of India. He believed the young generation would be the driving force for change. Just as Swami Vivekananda believed in you, I share that faith,” Modi said, reiterating his strong belief in the ideals and aspirations Vivekananda had for the nation’s youth.

The Prime Minister also emphasized that achieving such ambitious goals is not the responsibility of the government alone but requires the participation of every citizen. “The ownership of ‘Viksit Bharat’ is not just mine, it belongs to every one of you,” Modi remarked, encouraging active involvement from all Indians in this collective mission.

Highlighting the importance of setting and achieving big goals for national progress, Modi pointed out that India is already accomplishing significant milestones ahead of schedule, such as the target of achieving 20 percent ethanol blending in petrol by 2030, a goal India is on track to meet sooner.

He stressed that the success of these ambitious targets hinges on the involvement of the nation’s youth. Their innovative ideas and active participation will help shape policies and give direction to the country’s growth.

Drawing parallels with the rise of the United States after the 1930s economic crisis and Singapore’s transformation from a developing region to an economic powerhouse, Modi underscored the importance of setting bold goals and working diligently toward them. He also highlighted India’s achievements, such as becoming an open defecation-free country and successfully manufacturing and distributing COVID-19 vaccines.

The Prime Minister concluded by asserting that the next 25 years—referred to as India’s “Amrit Kaal”—represent the nation’s golden period. He expressed complete confidence that India’s young population will lead the way in realizing the vision of a “Viksit Bharat.”

The Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue aims to break away from the traditional format of the National Youth Festival and aligns with Modi’s Independence Day call to engage one lakh youth in politics, offering them a platform to contribute to the country’s development without political affiliations.
