Monsoon resumes with widespread rainfall

Raipur | Correspondent: After a brief respite of two days, the monsoon has resumed its activity in Chhattisgarh.

Starting on Tuesday, widespread rainfall is anticipated across most parts of the state. Additionally, some areas may experience heavy downpours.

Uptill now, the state has already experienced a total of 581.5 mm of rains from June 1 to July 30.

Bijapur has experienced the heaviest rainfall, while Surguja district has seen less precipitation. The heavy rain is likely to take place in the southern regions of the state.

A cyclonic circulation over northern Chhattisgarh and surrounding areas has extended up to 7.6 km above sea level and is tilting southwest with height.

The monsoon trough stretches southeast from Bikaner to the central-east Bay of Bengal at 1.5 km above sea level.

Additionally, a shear zone lies between 3.1 and 7.6 km above sea level over the Indian region around 21°N and tilts southward with height.

Forecast for Wednesday, indicates light to moderate rainfall across many areas in the state.

Besides, a warning has been issued for possible lightning with thunder at one or two locations.

Light to moderate rainfall at most places, with thunder and lightning, and heavy rainfall at isolated spots is expected in further two days.

Of the 33 districts within the state, 13 districts have reported normal downpour, 9 districts have reported with excess rainfall, other 9 have reported with deficient rainfall, Bijapur is reported with largely excess rainfall district, and Sarguja reports to be largely deficient rainfall district.

Situation in neighboring states

In our neighbouring state like Madhya Pradesh, some districts in Gwalior, Chambal, Rewa, Jabalpur, Shahdol, and Sagar divisions had rain.

Rain was more frequent in Bhopal and Narmadapuram divisions, and widespread in Indore and Ujjain divisions, Other regions were dry.

Maximum temperatures rose significantly in Rewa but were much lower than normal in Indore.

Minimum temperatures were below normal in Narmadapuram, above normal in Bhopal, Gwalior, and Sagar, much above normal in Rewa, and normal elsewhere.

Thunderstorms and strong winds affected many districts, including Bhopal, Vidisha, Raisen, and Sehore.

The total rainfall accumulated within the state this season is 819.3 mm, which is 313.0 mm above the normal seasonal rainfall.

Rajasthan experienced heavy rainfall, while some places saw light to moderate showers accompanied by thundershowers.

The highest recorded rainfall was 84.0 mm in Sallopat, Banswara.

In terms of temperature, Ganganagar recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state, reaching 41.2 degrees Celsius.

Humidity levels across most parts of the state ranged from 70 to 100 percent.
