Massive earthquake hit Japan, triggering a tsunami advisory

Japan | Desk: A massive earthquake with initial of 6.9 magnitude struck in Southern Japan, triggering a tsunami advisory.

However, there have been no signs of sever damages yet, reported Japan Meteorological Agency.

According to the officials, the waves are expected to rise up to 1 meter (3.3 ft) in the after-effect of the earthquake.

Residents residing nearby the coastal areas, rivers or lakes have been advised to move to a safer location as soon as possible.

The quake majorly shook Nichinan city and the nearby areas in Miyazaki prefecture on Kyushu.

Japan is located on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” a zone with many seismic faults surrounding the Pacific Ocean.

Making it one of the most earthquake-prone countries in the world.

On January 1, an earthquake in the north-central Noto region of Japan resulted in over 240 deaths.
