Man who threatened Shahrukh Khan released after interrogation
Raipur | Correspondent: A man suspected of threatening to kill Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was released after police interrogation. Law enforcement officials identified the suspect as Faizan Khan from the Pandri area.
According to Faizan Khan, his phone was stolen on November 2. He was later informed by police that a threatening call directed at Shah Rukh Khan had been made from his number. Faizan was questioned extensively and summoned to Mumbai for further investigation on November 14.
The threat involved a demand for a ransom of ₹5 crore from Shah Rukh Khan, prompting an increase in the actor’s security. The call was traced back to a number registered in Faizan’s name in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
Following the incident, three Mumbai Police officers traveled to Raipur. By tracking the SIM card’s location in Pandri, they identified Faizan’s residence and carried out a raid, detaining him for questioning.
The threatening call was reported to have been received at the Bandra Police Station. The caller allegedly warned that Shah Rukh Khan must pay ₹5 crore to ensure his safety or face dire consequences.
When asked for his identity, the caller responded, “My name does not matter; I am Hindustani.”
In response to the threat, Shahrukh Khan’s team filed a complaint with Bandra Police Station. Following the incident, Mumbai Police has heightened security around Shah Rukh Khan’s residence, Mannat, though Khan himself has not requested additional security measures.
Previous Threats Received
This is not the first time Shahrukh Khan has faced threats. Following the success of his films Pathaan and Jawan in 2023, he reportedly received multiple threats, prompting the filing of a police complaint at the time. In response, Khan was granted Y-plus security and has since been accompanied by his bodyguard at all times.
The recent threat against Shahrukh Khan has heightened anxiety within the film industry. Bollywood star Salman Khan has also been the target of frequent threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Last month, Salman’s close associate and NCP leader Baba Siddiqui was tragically murdered, further escalating concerns. Both Salman and Shahrukh Khan reside in Mumbai’s Bandra area, where Siddiqui was also killed.
The growing threats against prominent actors have become a serious issue for the film fraternity, raising fears for their safety and well-being.
