Gangster Aman Sahu Remanded to Raipur Police

Raipur | Correspondent: Notorious Jharkhand gangster Aman Sahu has been remanded into police custody by a Raipur court until October 19. Over the next five days, the police will intensively interrogate him.

Sahu, currently incarcerated in a Jharkhand jail, has had warrants issued against him three times in the past year, but each time his transfer was delayed due to changes in his jail location. Now, for the fourth time, he has been brought to Chhattisgarh on a production warrant and presented before the court on Monday.

The court was informed that Aman Sahu is the prime suspect in the shooting of businessman Prahlad Rai Agarwal in Raipur. In addition to this, he faces multiple charges of extorting money through threats.

Sahu’s criminal history is extensive. Despite his unassuming appearance as a thin, 12th-grade pass mobile shop owner, Sahu wields considerable influence, using an AK-47 to extort money in Jharkhand. He began his criminal activities at the age of 17, and now has over 50 cases registered against him.

Arrested in 2019, Sahu managed to escape custody on September 29, 2019. He was rearrested nearly three years later, in July 2022, and has since been held in a Jharkhand prison. Police allege that Sahu continues to run his criminal operations from behind bars.

Investigations suggest Sahu is linked with notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, aided by Sunil Kumar Meena alias Mayank Singh, a resident of GDA Purani Mandi Ghadsana in Rajasthan. Bishnoi is also incarcerated, but his gang recently claimed responsibility for the murder of former minister Baba Siddiqui in Mumbai.

In July this year, shots were fired at the vehicle of prominent businessman Prahlad Agarwal in broad daylight in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The attack was allegedly orchestrated by the Lawrence Bishnoi and Aman Sahu gang. Two months prior, Mayank Singh had issued threats to businessmen, warning them of impending harm to a board member, team member, or family member.

Later, Mayank Singh sent an email claiming responsibility for the attack. However, Sahu’s transfer to Chhattisgarh was delayed at the time.

With Sahu now in Chhattisgarh police custody, authorities expect to uncover more details about the criminal underworld in the state.
