India wins T20 World Cup final

New Delhi | Correspondent: India makes history by winning the T20 world cup for the second time.

In the final match played at Barbados, India defeated South Africa by seven runs in an extremely exhilarating match.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, India posted a competitive total of 176 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs. In response, South Africa managed 169 runs for the loss of eight wickets.

This victory marks India’s first ICC trophy in 11 years, following their Champions Trophy triumph in 2013, and their first T20 World Cup victory in 17 years.

India now joins West Indies and England as the only teams to have won the T20 World Cup twice. West Indies claimed titles in 2012 and 2016, while England triumphed in 2010 and 2022.

The turning point in the match came in the 17th over when Hardik Pandya dismissed Klaasen and conceded only four runs, swinging momentum India’s way.

Subsequent tight bowling by Bumrah and Arshdeep restricted South Africa, leaving them needing 16 runs in the final over.

Hardik Pandya struck early in the over by dismissing Miller, ultimately securing India’s victory with seven runs to spare.
