Drone survey boosts Abadi Patta distribution in Raigarh

Raigarh | Correspondent: The distribution of Abadi patta in Chhattisgarh has once again begun.

This time under the Swamitva yojna, survey is being conducted through drones the maps have started coming but currently are coming in pieces due to which the Revenue department are unable to take the work forward.

A survey has been conducted in 950 villages across 549 Gram Panchayats in Raigarh district.

However, the maps of only 527 villages have so far been incorporated into the land records.

The respective village Patwaris will now verify these maps, following which the Abadi Pattas will be distributed.

The government launched the Swamitva Yojana to provide property certificates to owners residing on Abadi land in rural areas.

As part of this initiative, houses built on Abadi land were surveyed using drone technology.

However, complications arose due to Nazul or government lands being recorded under various classifications in the Revenue Department’s records.

Abadi Pattas will only be issued to individuals who have been residing for years by constructing homes on Abadi land.

Although the survey has captured all houses on the drone maps, the Patwaris are tasked with identifying the specific inhabited lands within these maps.

According to the Revenue Department, the maps for 423 villages in Raigarh district are still pending.

Once these maps are received, Patwaris will align them with existing rules and regulations, and Abadi Pattas will be distributed to eligible individuals accordingly.

Benefits for families without documentation

Hundreds of families in these villages have been living on inhabited land for years without any official documents to prove ownership.

This survey aims to address this issue by recording details of vacant plots and existing constructions on the maps, in conjunction with revenue records.

Separate maps will be prepared for each village, listing the names of landowners.

These individuals will also receive property certificates confirming their ownership.

Historically, successive governments have introduced schemes to distribute Abadi Pattas under various names.

The current initiative continues this effort, ensuring that longstanding residents of Abadi lands are granted formal ownership rights.

This systematic approach not only aims to resolve disputes over land ownership but also ensures the inclusion of rural residents in formal property systems.
