BJP Releases First List of Candidates for Jharkhand Elections
Ranchi | Correspondent: On Saturday evening, the BJP released its list of candidates for by-elections in 25 seats across 8 states. The list includes 24 assembly seats and the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala, where BJP has nominated Navya Haridas to contest against Congress’s Priyanka Gandhi.
By-elections are scheduled for 48 assembly seats and 2 Lok Sabha seats across 14 states. Voting will take place on November 13 for 47 assembly seats in 13 states, as well as the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala. On November 20, voting will be held for the Nanded Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra and the Kedarnath assembly seat in Uttarakhand. The results for all these elections will be announced on November 23.
Ahead of the Jharkhand Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its first list of candidates.
The BJP has announced the names of 66 candidates for the upcoming assembly elections. Babu Lal Marandi, the party’s state in-charge and former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, has been nominated from the Dhanwar seat, while Sita Soren will contest from the Jamtara seat.
Earlier, on Saturday, the INDIA alliance also announced its seat distribution strategy for the first phase of voting. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren provided this update.
The elections in Jharkhand will be held in two phases, on November 13 and November 20, with the results to be declared on November 23. The state has a total of 81 assembly seats.
On Friday, the BJP shared further details regarding seat distribution. BJP leader and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated, “Seat-sharing discussions are ongoing and will continue. For now, the All Jharkhand Student Union (AJSU) will contest 10 seats. These seats are: Silli, Ramgarh, Gomia, Ichagarh, Mandu, Jugsalai, Dumri, Pakur, Lohardaga, and Manoharpur.”
He further added, “The Janata Dal (United) will contest two seats—Jamshedpur West and Tamar. The Lok Janshakti Party will contest from Chatra. Apart from these, the BJP will field candidates in all other constituencies.”
