BJP MP Bhojraj Nag’s Lemon Ritual Triggers Outcry

Raipur | Correspondent: BJP MP Bhojraj Nag from Kanker, Chhattisgarh, has stirred controversy once again by suggesting that he will exorcise ghosts through the ritual of cutting lemons. His remarks have drawn sharp criticism from the Congress party, which accuses him of perpetuating superstition that endangers lives.

Speaking at the Awas Mela in Pakhanjoor, Nag asserted that he would eliminate any obstacles to government development projects by cutting lemons. He mentioned that it has been five months since his election victory and that once six months have passed, he would resume his practices of exorcising ghosts with lemons.

Nag further stated that he plans to assess the progress of government initiatives after six months. If he finds that officials are not adapting to the current BJP administration’s standards, he intends to “fix” them through his unconventional methods.

He also issued a warning to contractors about the importance of diligence in their work.

It’s worth noting that during the Lok Sabha elections, Nag claimed multiple times that he is a Baiga and promised to address community issues through the act of cutting lemons. His latest comments have quickly gone viral on social media.

Congress Criticism

The Congress party has strongly condemned Nag’s statements, arguing that the BJP MP is promoting superstition while highlighting the apparent lack of control over government officials.

Senior Congress spokesperson Dhananjay Singh Thakur remarked, “What better evidence of dysfunction could there be than the BJP MP’s warning?”

Thakur emphasized that such irrational statements can have dire consequences, pointing to two tragic incidents last month in Kasdol and Sukma, where nine individuals were murdered over suspicions of black magic and witchcraft.
