Chhattisgarh Seeks Aman Sahu, Jharkhand Wants Pammi

Raipur | Correspondent: The Chhattisgarh Police is seeking to bring gangster Aman Sahu, currently imprisoned in a Jharkhand jail, to Chhattisgarh. Simultaneously, Jharkhand authorities are pursuing the extradition of Pammi, who is currently held in a Chhattisgarh jail. Both states’ police forces believe that interrogating these individuals could uncover crucial information.

The Chhattisgarh Police recently secured a fresh production warrant for Aman Sahu. Meanwhile, the Jharkhand ATS team is preparing to travel to Raipur to interrogate Pammi.

Aman Sahu, a slender individual with a 12th-grade education, once owned a mobile shop but turned to extortion at the age of 17. He is known for brandishing an AK-47 while collecting extortion fees in Jharkhand. With over 50 cases registered against him, Sahu was first arrested in 2019 but managed to escape custody on September 29, 2019. He was re-arrested in July 2022 and has been in jail in Jharkhand since then.

Authorities allege that Sahu continues to run his gang from prison. He is believed to have ties with Lawrence Bishnoi, another notorious gangster currently incarcerated, facilitated by Sunil Kumar Meena, alias Mayank Singh, a resident of Rajasthan.

Multiple Delays in Bringing Aman Sahu to Chhattisgarh

Efforts by the Chhattisgarh Police to bring Aman Sahu on a production warrant have faced repeated setbacks. On three separate occasions, his transfer was delayed because he was moved to different jails shortly after warrants were issued.

In the past two and a half years, Sahu has been transferred to 10 different prisons across Jharkhand.

In July this year, a prominent businessman, Prahlad Agarwal, was attacked in broad daylight in Raipur, with suspicions pointing toward the Lawrence Bishnoi-Aman Sahu gang. Prior to the attack, Mayank Singh, a member of the gang, had issued threats to reduce the number of directors in the businessman’s firm. Singh later claimed responsibility for the attack via email.

Despite these events, Sahu’s transfer to Chhattisgarh was once again postponed. Now, a fresh warrant has been issued for his transfer, expected in the first week of October.

Pammi: A Key Confidante

Meanwhile, the Jharkhand ATS has been intensifying efforts to dismantle the Aman Sahu gang, conducting raids and making several arrests over the past four months. The ATS believes that interrogating Pammi, who is currently jailed in Raipur, could lead to significant revelations.

Pammi is accused of being present during the attack on businessman Prahlad Agarwal and is suspected of organizing logistics for the assault.

She is also the wife of Akash Rai, a close associate of Aman Sahu. Outside prison, Pammi is reportedly involved in managing the gang’s finances, including disposing of extortion money and assisting in its collection.

Investigators believe Pammi holds key information regarding the gang’s financial dealings and where the extorted money has been invested.
