LGBTQ+ Community Hosts Empowering Pride March in Raipur

Raipur | Correspondent: On Sunday, the LGBTQ+ community of Raipur held a colorful and spirited pride march in a bold demonstration for their rights and freedom. The event, despite the blistering heat, was filled with energy, excitement, and a strong sense of unity as participants marched through the capital’s streets, raising slogans of equality, love, and inclusion.

The pride march kicked off at Bharat Mata Chowk and made its way to Marine Drive, near Telibandha talab.

Hundreds of LGBTQ+ individuals—including lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender persons—joined in, standing tall in solidarity. The event also drew participants from other parts of Chhattisgarh, along with supporters from Maharashtra, Odisha, and beyond.

The march was not only a call for equality but also a celebration of diversity, with performers showcasing talents from various regions. Streets reverberated with music and vibrant performances, and participants were seen dancing freely, embracing one another in moments of joy and togetherness.

Many marchers carried signs bearing messages of love and justice, with placards reading slogans such as “Love is love” and “Marriage equality now.” Calls for recognition and equal rights echoed throughout the march, with many urging the government, particularly the Prime Minister, to support marriage equality for LGBTQ+ individuals.

A striking feature of the march was the enormous rainbow flag that participants carried, symbolizing pride and unity. Clad in colorful outfits and holding placards aloft, marchers called for an end to discrimination, demanding full inclusion and equal rights within society.

The pride march was jointly organized by the Queergarh Organization and Mitwa Sankalp Samiti, which represents the transgender community. Speaking about the event, organizers stressed the importance of equal rights and freedom for all individuals, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.

“Every person deserves the freedom to live authentically, with dignity and without fear,” one of the organizers said. “This march is our way of sending a powerful message—everyone, regardless of their gender or sexual identity, should enjoy equal rights and opportunities. We are here to demand respect, recognition, and inclusion for the LGBTQ+ community.”

The pride march not only brought attention to the struggles faced by the LGBTQ+ community but also celebrated their resilience and shared hope for a future where love, equality, and diversity are truly embraced.
