Chhattisgarh records 26 Lapata Ladies everyday

Raipur | Correspondent: 26 women in Chhattisgarh go missing every day including people below the age of 18, the number rises to 43 individuals disappearing daily.

The number of missing people escalate each year. However, many of the missing persons are found annually.

Despite this, the final figures for 2022 show that the whereabouts of 10,956 women remain unknown.

Additionally, 1,836 people under the age of 18 have also not been traced.

19,827 Women Reported Missing in 2022

According to Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, 7,031 women went missing from Chhattisgarh in 2018. This number increased to 8,502 women in 2019.

By the end of 2019, the total number of missing women in Chhattisgarh had risen to 15,484.

In 2020, 7,006 women were reported missing, followed by 9,244 in 2021, and 9,551 in 2022.

The total number of Lapata Ladies in 2022 was 19,827. Out of these, 8,871 women were found.

However, the number of Lapata Ladies still missing at the end of the year stood at 10,956.

5,210 Minors Reported Missing

In Chhattisgarh, 3,074 minors went missing in 2022. The number of missing minors has fluctuated in recent years: 3,143 in 2019, 2,459 in 2020, 3,278 in 2021, and 3,434 in 2022.

The total number of missing minors in 2022, including those from previous years, reached 5,210. Out of these, 3,374 were found during the year. By the end of 2022, 1,836 minors remained unaccounted for.

On a national scale, 230,554 women were reported missing in 2022. Adding previous figures, the total number of missing women reached 403,314. Of these, 205,969 were found, but 197,345 women were still missing.

Similarly, even with recoveries in 2022, the number of missing minors nationwide stood at 47,313.
