Poetry of Poonam Vasam in Amravati University syllabus
Raipur | Correspondent: Chhattisgarh’s poetess Poonam Vasam, hailing from Bijapur achieved a significant milestone.
Vasam’s collection poem have been included in the BA third-year syllabus of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University.
In her poems, she vividly depicts tribal life, struggles, and nature through her unique folk-rooted language style.
Her works offer a deep insight into the folk culture and the pain of Bastar, making her a distinctive voice in Hindi literature.
Over the years, Poonam’s poems have been widely published in various newspapers and magazines across India.
Her debut poetry collection, ‘Machhaliya Gaayengi Ek Din Pandum Geet,’ published by Vani Prakashan, received high praise from the Hindi literary community.
Her second poetry collection is eagerly anticipated.
Poonam Vasam has been honored with several prestigious awards, including the Punarnava Award 2020, Amar Ujala Shabd Samman 2022, and the Kalinga Literature Festival Book Award 2022, presented by the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Hindi Sahitya Sammelan.
Born on January 1, 1980, in Jagdalpur, Poonam completed her schooling at Maharani Laxmibai Higher Secondary School.
She holds an MA in Sociology and Economics and has earned a PhD focusing on the sociological aspects of self-surrendered Naxalites.
Poonam currently works as a teacher in Bijapur.
