Chhattisgarh government bans hospital filming
Raipur | Correspondent: In a response to a recent public interest litigation, a notice by the Chhattisgarh government has been issued that aims to prevent unauthorized photography or videography of the persons undergoing any treatment in government hospitals.
The decision was prompted by a distressing video showing a child birth at a sub-health center in Ambikapur without any medical staff present went viral online.
The Chhattisgarh High Court, in its order released on June 10, 2024, strongly condemned the spread this videos and directed authorities to stop their circulation immediately.
The court emphasized the importance of respecting individuals’ privacy, especially women, and underscored the unethical nature of sharing personal content without consent.
Manoj Kumar Pingua, Additional Chief Secretary of the Chhattisgarh Government’s Public Health and Family Welfare and Medical Education Department, highlighted the importance of responsible citizenship and warned against actions that violate others’ rights.
He noted that the dissemination of such videos could harm the social standing and well-being of those involved.
To address these concerns, the government has issued a directive instructing both governmental and non-governmental entities to refrain from recording images or videos of patients that compromise their privacy.
Authorities are required to ensure strict adherence to these guidelines to protect the dignity and rights of individuals receiving medical care in government hospitals.
