Raipur Safari exchange bears for zebras with Ambani zoo

Raipur | Correspondent: Four bears from Raipur’s Jungle Safari will be sent to the zoo in Jamnagar, owned by Ambani.

In return, two zebras will be delivered to Jungle Safari.

Two years ago, Ambani’s Jamnagar zoo had proposed to Chhattisgarh’s Jungle Safari to exchange bears and four-horned antelopes, in return for which it would provide money through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. This proposal was rejected by Jungle Safari at the time. Wildlife experts argue that trading animals for money falls under the category of hunting.

Meanwhile, Bilaspur’s Kanan Pendari has also approved sending two female and one male gaur to the Jamnagar zoo. The central government has also approved this exchange in the name of animal rescue and rehabilitation.

Now, Jungle Safari has agreed to send four bears to Ambani’s zoo. In return, two zebras will be provided by Ambani. Zebras are a species of wild horse, found in the semi-desert areas of Kenya and Ethiopia, Namibia, Angola, and the hilly regions of South Africa.

There are generally three species of zebras, Grevy’s zebra, plains zebra, and mountain zebra.
