4 Maoists killed in encounter, DRG Jawan martyred

Dantewada | Correspondent: Four Maoists were killed in an encounter in the Maoist-affected Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh, according to police reports.

A District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan, Head Constable Sannu Karam, also lost his life in the operation.

Police stated that the search operation in the area is ongoing, and no additional Maoist casualties have been reported so far.

On Friday, a joint team comprising personnel from the STF and DRG units of Narayanpur, Dantewada, Jagdalpur, and Kondagaon districts launched an operation in the Abujhmad region.

The encounter began on Saturday evening in the Maad area, with heavy firing reported from both sides continuing late into the night.

Gunfire resumed on Sunday morning as well.

So far, police have recovered the bodies of the Maoists along with automatic weapons from the encounter site.

District Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rai confirmed the recovery of firearms, including AK-47 and SLR rifles.

“The encounter is still ongoing. Further details will emerge once the forces return from the operation,” SP Rai stated.
